In my Small Business class, we were asked to conduct a case study that analyzed several factors that led to the success (or demise) of a small business. Each small business maintained a specific competitive advantage that allowed them to open their establishment each day. Some advantages could include location, convenience, affordable pricing, product differentiation, etc. At the beginning of the semester, I visited several small businesses throughout the Lehigh Valley area, of which included: restaurants, vintage thrift shops, bakeries, barbershops and movie theaters.
I chose to perform my case study on Easton Baking Company- a famous bakery that has been serving the Easton community for over 30 years. They had recently closed prior to conducting my case study and I wanted to explore some alternative options that could’ve helped them remain open.
